PLANT LEVEL CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE (PLCC) MEETING FOR UTKAL ALUMINA ORGANIZED BY RIC, RAYAGADA

(Report by Ramesh ippili) Rayagada /Tikiri : A Plant Level Consultative Committee Meeting (PLCC) for Utkal Alumina International Limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries limited of Aditya Birla Group was organized on 29th July 2022 under the chairmanship of the Collector & District Magistrate, Rayagada at Utkal Alumina’s township premises. The purpose of the meeting is to establish an interface between MSMEs and Industries to explore opportunities in the field of demand and supply of SMEs products in the districts and to accelerate a functional relationship between the industries and MSMEs. Overall, the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in this region by promoting MSMEs. The meeting was chaired by the Collector & District Magistrate Rayagada Smt. Swadha Dev Singh and Co-Chaired by Sri. Mazhar Beig the Unit Head & President, Sri. Bikash Chandra Bain RIC, Rayagada convened the meeting as a Member Convenor. Sri Sudhakar Biswal, Chief Finance Officer of Utkal Alumina has presented an overview of Utkal Alumina plant and highlighted about the scope and prospects of supporting MSME’s of this region. He also shared about the plant’s contribution in terms of exchequers and income tax to the Government. Head-Commercial, Utkal Alumina Sri. Amit Panda shared about the business association with MSMEs. He presented about vendor registration system of the company, industries requirements of consumable materials and, he mentioned the list of vendors to whom the company is supplying Fly Ash and Lime Grit. The team CSR and CR & Sustainability of Utkal Alumina have shared about the community development initiatives and the prospects of promoting small scale entrepreneurs under project “UDYAMEE”. The support being rendered by Utkal Alumina to promote small scale industries around its periphery area under its Project UDYAMEE have grabbed the eyeballs of many panel members. Sri K Narin Kumdan President, Odisha Assembly of Small & Medium Enterprises (OASME, Rayagada) and Sri A Govind Rao President District Small Scale Industries Centre (DSSIA, Rayagada) have shared their concerns pertaining to their association in terms of building synergy with Utkal Alumina and urge to the company to give priority to the local MSME’s to fulfill company’s requirement. Entrepreneurs of the districts have discussed their issues and concerns in the forum. Sri Bhimsen Sabar, Sub Collector & SDM Rayagada, Sri, Dhirendra Naath Bihari, LDM Rayagada, Sri Sabyasachi Sahoo, IPO Rayagada senior officials of Utkal Alumina are among the other dignitaries present in the meeting. Speaking at the event, the Unit Head of Utkal Alumina reiterated that the Small and Medium Scale Industries are the backbone of our Economy. Strengthening of such bodies will not only prosper their good self but also would transform the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem of this region. He mentioned that Utkal Alumina is always committed to support the MSME’s and emerging entrepreneurs of this region. The District Collector & Magistrate acknowledged the effort of RIC, Rayagada and Utkal Alumina for organizing the PLCC meeting. She emphasized on building a level playing field where the MSMEs’ and Corporate Co-prosper and transform the socio-economic condition of this region.
